Dear Friends,

We, the Kurdish American Society (KAS), have invited the renown Turkish sociologist Ismail Beşikci, and the head of the Ismail Beşikci Foundation based in Istanbul (IBV) Ibrahim Gürbüz to hold a conference on the Kurdish issue.

Dr. Beşikci and Mr. Gürbüz will be in the U.S. from April 20-28.  Dr. Beşikci will be speaking in Washington, D.C. on April 22and in New York City on April 26.  We will also be holding a dinner in their honor in NYC.

It is a privilege to host Dr. Beşikci and Mr. Gürbüz in the U.S.  As you might know, since the 1960s, Dr. Beşikci has written numerous books and articles on the Kurdish issue.  Because of these writings, Beşikci was imprisoned for 17 years by the Turkish military governments in the 1970s and 80s.  Despite all the hardship he has faced since his dissertation on the Kurdish issue, Mr. Beşikci has not stopped his intellectual activity regarding the Kurds
